School Transfers

Transfers are available at the school’s main administrative office.

Parents and school officials must follow the process defined in Oklahoma law for approval of “open transfers”.

The steps begin with parents completing an application for an open transfer on or before February 1 (for the next school year). Transfer applications are taken on a first come, first served basis. If parents miss the February 1 deadline, they may apply for an “emergency transfer”; however, unless a highly unusual situation exists, both districts must approve the transfer. Based on policy, for reasons such as lack of classroom space or teaching staff a request for transfer can be denied by the “receiving” district.

Once an open transfer is granted, parents are not required to reapply annually.

Another important date for parents or guardians applying for a transfer is June 1. By then, the receiving district should provide notification about approval or disapproval of the transfer. Likewise, parents must notify the receiving district of their intent to enroll by July 1, or the transfer may not receive final approval. Students transferring to another district must provide their own transportation to and from school.
